Earn money online , online jobs

Be a smart mom during pandemic

Pandemic hits all of us and it changes the way we live. Economy fall down and even big companies are forced to shut down their business because of the lockdown this pandemic brings. To prevent the spread of the virus, some companies required their employees to work from home but others really lost their jobs.

Most stay at home mom I know is not the breadwinner of the family. Hence, during this uncertain times we need to be more practical. A smart mom will always have a backup plan and that is to look for other ways to earn money and keep the family budget safe.

Today, I will be sharing with you some ways on how you can earn money while doing the chores of a mom. These are jobs that me and my friends who are also moms tried already and it works for us. Most of these jobs offer flexible time so you can work while the kids are sleeping or when they are also busy playing.

Equipment needed to start working online

Below are the basic requirements to start working online but keep in mind that the capability of each device varies on the work that you will be doing. Some companies have minimum system requirements that you need to check.

  1. Computer - If you will just be doing clerical work, then a 1.6 GHz processor with 4GB RAM is enough but if you plan to work with graphics like video editing then you must purchase a computer with a dedicated video card. You also need a good camera if your work requires a video conferencing or teaching online.

  2. Internet Connection - At least 3-5 Mbps depending on the requirements of the company.

  3. Headset with noise cancellation - This is needed if you will be doing phone or video call work (ESL teaching, Customer Service, etc)

  4. Workspace - Any space at home that you are comfortable to work at. Where you can do both working while still looking after your child.

ESL Teaching

Do you want to try teaching? Then, you might want to try teaching online.

English language is in demand, especially in Asian countries. This will be done thru one-on-one video call with your student. It doesn't require any experience. You will be teaching people of different ages from kids, teens and even adults. Most of the companies looking for ESL teacher provide a training.

I have a mom friend who started working with 51Talk and after 5 years she has now her own teaching business.

Online Selling

Online Selling becomes more popular due to community quarantine. To be safe, people opt to order online rather than going to supermarkets or malls to buy something. But this will be a good opportunity for the moms who love to sell items. You just have to choose an e-commerce platform, upload your items on the internet, and wait for your customers.

Here in the Philippines, Lazada and Shopee are the biggest platform that online sellers use. You can also try other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to showcase your products.

Blogging

Do you have a passion for writing? Then, publish a blog site where you can share ideas and earn as well. Know a niche or an industry where you are good at and start writing articles about it. You need to find a domain that will host your site, design your blog and you're good to go.

Bloggers monetize thru affiliate marketing, accepting sponsored posts and selling their own products on their website.

Virtual Assistant

Entrepreneurs are busy people that is why they will be needing a right hand to help them focus more on what needs to be prioritized. Virtual Assistant is like an office based setup secretary or an administrative assistant but you will be working online.

The task here includes emails and file management, scheduling meetings with clients, preparing reports and presentations, booking hotels and flight for the boss and many more.

Transcriptionist

If you are keen to details and have a good speed in typing then this might fit you. Transcribers listen to audios or videos and convert it to a text format. It may be for medical, legal or other types of recorded audio. This job is strict with deadlines and requires you to have good grammar and accurate spelling.

I tried this job with QA World. No experience is needed and you will be paid depending on the accuracy of your work.

There are many opportunities online to choose from. You just need to have the perseverance to look for the job that you love. So prepare your resume now, and start looking for what works for you.
